Puppets! Between fascination and animation?

“Puppets on the Road” is a travelling project across two governorates (Médenine, Tataouine – Remada), aiming to meet children and adolescents of different generations while fostering civic participation and the socio-cultural inclusion of children through one simple medium: the puppet. It targets 60 children aged between 9 and 15.

The planned activities are days of recording popular and mythical stories, a puppet-making training course based on the characters of a folk tale, and a theatrical-script training course, ending with a puppet-theatre festival.

A fascination! An animation! Through workshops recording folk stories, making workshops and debates led by the children during the script workshops, we announce an artistic discovery and the birth of a play made by children’s hands – by free hands – in every region the project reached. Amid an activity that fascinates the children, hidden animation talents are born, talents that will bring a puppet to life, as in the project’s original idea: creating a show, or rather a festival tour between Médenine and Tataouine.

“I want what I make!” – a simple answer from a 10-year-old who invites us to discover his puppet in all its facets, from its making to his imagining and drawing the events of his story before writing it.
