Label’Zik National is an old dream become reality, a continuation of the first dance festival in regions that suffer from a lack of cultural activity. It gives 20 candidates an opportunity to learn and make their voices heard in their communities through art – young dancers who come from all over Tunisia with a single aim: to raise the voice of culture.
The project comprises four strands, starting with dance workshops (contemporary, hip-hop), followed by a workshop in stage techniques that supports the young dancers, and ending with the major event: the Label’Zik National dance festival.
Two professional trainers from Italy, Enrico Boenzi (hip-hop) and Deborah Patrizio (contemporary dance), met at a dance camp held from 28 October to 1 November 2018 at the Médenine Youth Complex, attended by 20 young talents from different Tunisian towns to blend their know-how. Each taught the rudiments of their technique so that, very quickly, the participants could create mini-choreographies; the workshop ended with two contemporary hip-hop pieces to be presented at the festival.
The training sessions continue in preparation for the national festival in December – a language of expression that will travel the world with inspiring thoughts and movements, allowing gifted young people to express themselves in public and private spaces through the art of dance.
